FieldTake is built to work the way a photographer already works: your photos stay on your iPad and go only where you send them. This page explains, in plain language, what that means.
The short version
- FieldTake has no user accounts and no sign-in.
- We — Oz LLC — do not collect, receive, or have access to your photos, captions, or any file you work with in the app.
- There is no analytics, tracking, or advertising software in FieldTake.
- Your photos are only ever sent where you explicitly tell the app to send them: an FTP destination, a drive, or a cloud location you choose. FieldTake never uploads anything on its own.
What stays on your device
Everything FieldTake works with — the photos themselves, captions, IPTC templates, star ratings and color labels, and your non-destructive edits — is stored in the Files app on your iPad, under On My iPad › FieldTake. None of it is copied to Oz LLC or to any server we operate, because we don't operate one. The app has no backend of its own.
What you choose to send elsewhere
FieldTake can send photos to an FTP destination you set up yourself (for example, your wire service or publication's server), and can archive a job to an external drive, iCloud Drive, or another location you pick. In every case, you choose the destination, and the transfer happens directly between your iPad and that destination — it does not pass through Oz LLC.
The username and password for each FTP destination you save are stored in your iPad's own Keychain, the same secure storage iOS uses for your other passwords. We never see them.
Local network access
FieldTake asks for permission to use your local network. This is used for two things: finding and receiving from a camera sending photos over FTP on the same network, and reaching a network drive or destination you've chosen for sending or archiving. This permission is not used for anything else, and no information about your network is sent anywhere.
Your subscription
FieldTake's subscription is bought, renewed and canceled through Apple, with your Apple Account. Apple handles the payment; Oz LLC never sees your name, card or any payment details. FieldTake only asks the iPad whether a subscription is active, using Apple's own record on the device, so nothing about it is sent to us.
What we don't do
- We don't use analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs of any kind.
- We don't collect your name, email, location, or device identifiers.
- We don't read your Photos library — FieldTake works with files directly, through the Files app and connected storage, not your Camera Roll. The only time it touches Photos is when you choose Save Image from Share: it then asks once for permission to add that photo, and can only add, never look at what's there.
- We don't sell, rent, or share any information, because we don't collect any to begin with.
Children's privacy
FieldTake is a professional tool for photographers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, since the app doesn't collect information at all.
Changes to this policy
If FieldTake's data practices ever change — for example, if a future version adds an optional account or cloud feature — this page will be updated first, and the change will be described here plainly, in the same style as the rest of this page.
