SelectPad works entirely on your iPad and your local network. Your photos travel from your camera to your iPad and nowhere else, unless you move them yourself. This page explains, in plain language, what that means.

The short version

What stays on your iPad

The photos your camera sends, the stars your client gives them, your sessions and your settings are stored on the iPad. The original photos are in the Files app under On My iPad › SelectPad, or in another folder you choose. SelectPad also keeps its own smaller copies of each photo for browsing. None of it is copied to Oz LLC or to any server we operate, because we don't operate one. The app has no backend of its own.

Stars are written into the photo files themselves, so they travel with the photos when you copy them to your computer. The Diagnostics list in Photographer Settings, which records what the receiver did, stays on the iPad too.

Local network access

SelectPad asks for permission to use your local network. It needs it for one thing: receiving photos from your camera, which sends them by FTP to the iPad over your Wi-Fi router or the camera's own Wi-Fi. This permission is not used for anything else, and no information about your network is sent anywhere.

The username and password you set for each camera connection are stored in the iPad's own Keychain, the same secure storage iPadOS uses for your other passwords. We never see them.

Where your photos can go, if you choose

If you choose an iCloud Drive folder for your photos, iPadOS syncs that folder with your iCloud account, under Apple's privacy policy. If you share or save a list of filenames, or export star sidecar files, they go only where you send them. In every case you choose the destination, and nothing passes through Oz LLC.

Face ID and passcode

If you turn on Require Device Authentication, SelectPad asks iPadOS to check Face ID, Touch ID or the iPad passcode before Photographer Settings opens. iPadOS only tells SelectPad whether the check succeeded; SelectPad never sees your face data, fingerprint or passcode.

What we don't do

If you have chosen in the iPad's settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports. That is Apple's feature, under your control in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements; SelectPad itself sends nothing.

Children's privacy

SelectPad is a professional tool for photographers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, since the app doesn't collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If SelectPad's data practices ever change, this page will be updated first, and the change will be described here plainly, in the same style as the rest of this page.
